See How Our Grout Cleaning Service Helped a Homeowner in Bridgewater, NJ Increase the Value of His Property
June 30, 2019
When selling a house, practices such as repainting or restoring a surface can significantly increase the property's monetary value and capture more potential buyers. For this reason, we often receive requests to restore showers, countertops, and other surfaces in houses that are soon to be for sale. This was the case for a homeowner in Bridgewater, NJ. After living in a new property for a few months, he decided to put up his old home for sale to invest in new real estate opportunities. To get his previous home ready for the buyer's market, he hired our Bridgewater Grout Cleaning experts to have the grout lines on the home's kitchen floor restored.
When he called to schedule a free in-home evaluation, we were met with a familiar voice. A couple of months back, he had hired us to restore a granite shower in his new home. He knew he could expect us to deliver outstanding results. After going over some of the details, he scheduled a free assessment for the next day.
On the day of the consultation, we visited the client's home and examined the kitchen floor. The floor had been methodically laid down to create a uniform, lovely pattern in the kitchen. However, the darkened grout eclipsed the beauty of the tiles. After testing the state of the grout's sealant, we concluded the grout lines needed to be re-sealed. We asked the client when he had cleaned the grout lines last, and he couldn't remember.
To restore the floor's grout, we offered the homeowner a grout cleaning and sealing procedure. After cleaning the grout lines, we would seal them with ColorSeal, our proprietary sealant. He already knew the quality of our services, so he immediately decided to go through with the proposal and set up an appointment for the job.
The following day, we went back to the client's home early in the morning to restore the grout. First, we applied our proprietary, non-toxic tile and grout cleaner on the kitchen floor to loosen the embedded soil. This cleaner also contains properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms for an extended period of time after it has been applied. Next, we used a high-speed scrubber to remove the grime from the grout lines. Once the floor was fully cleaned and dry, we applied ColorSeal to the grout. This sealant closes off the grout's pores, protecting it against water, spills, mold, mildew, and other external agents. It also comes in any desired color to better match the tile's shade. The customer chose white to evoke a pristine appearance.
The results were exactly what the homeowner expected. The color of the grout lines matched the tiles perfectly, and the appearance of his kitchen had improved. The house was now ready to be advertised to potential buyers. He thanked us and assured us he would hire us again if he ever needed another hard surface restoration.
Even though the client was planning to sell the house, we still gave him a few tips to ensure the grout lines in his ceramic kitchen floor remained in good condition. First, we advised him to avoid acidic, soapy cleaners. These kinds of products tend to trap dirt and deteriorate the grout. We recommended using a soap-less pH-neutral cleaner like Sir Grout's Natural Hard Surface Cleaner instead. Together with a mop, this cleaner will remove all traces of dirt while prolonging the lifespan of the grout's sealant. Second, we suggested wiping away any spills as soon as they happened. Certain types of foods contain harmful substances that can damage both tile and grout, so it's best to clean them as soon as possible.
